Marriage Spirituality Q&A

Jesus has a wounded human heart; he allowed himself to be fully wounded this way. If it had only been his hands or feet, he would've survived. How do we allow ourselves to be wounded for him? My sacrifices thus far are survivable. I could still be intact on my own. He gave us everything; we can't turn back. Evangelical chastity is the full, total gift of your heart, which is set on fire with love for God and for one another. Jesus teaches us a new way to love on the cross — one that lines up with our desires. We want to love differently, but we're tempted to settle. There's a real fear in getting our hopes up. The Father wants you to get your hopes up. Set your hopes high for intimacy — for the union and the love that is possible. On Chastity: The Wounded Heart of Jesus (Lent Part Seven)

As we get closer to the end of the Old Testament, Fr. Mike highlights one of the lessons we&#39;ve seen time and time again—that God continues to fight for each of us, despite the brokenness and messiness of our lives. Together with Fr. Mike, we continue our examination of the sacrament of the Eucharist. Fr. Mike takes us back to the Book of Genesis, the sacrifices of Cain and Abel, and the Book of Exodus, the story of Moses and Pharaoh. He emphasizes that the point of freedom in life is to be led to the freedom to worship God and that it matters to God that we freely choose to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Day 185: Thanksgiving, Memorial, Presence (2024)

In this reading, we learn that all sinners are the authors of Christ’s Passion. We do not blame the Jews for the Crucifixion of Jesus as we know that it is our own sins that caused his Passion and death. Fr. Mike tells us that the Jews are not collectively responsible for Jesus’ death, and they should not be spoken of as rejected or cursed. We’re reminded that when we choose sin and deny Christ by our deeds, we crucify him anew in our hearts. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 595-598.
